Have you found yourself waking at night not sure why? And then waking other times feeling wide awake with a sense of watching, expectation or curiosity of what God might be doing or saying?

Have you found yourself recently praying for increase of dreams from the Lord?

Or have you felt to pray a hedge around you and your home in the night hours?

In the last few weeks the Lord has been reminding me He works when it is night. I heard Him say, “I’m on the night shift”.

Psalm 121 says, “Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.” God doesn’t sleep. We do, but He doesn’t. Instead He is doing something. Some of the greatest work of God is done at night. 

Get ready, He is doing something and it might just amaze you. He wants you to know He is on the night shift and He wants to set an expectation in you for what He is capable of.

WHAT IS HE CAPABLE OF ON THE NIGHT SHIFT?

Miracles – Exodus 14:21 “…and all that night, the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land.“

Defending and protecting you – 2 King’s 19:14-36  The Lord says: ‘I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.’ That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!”

Deliverance and creative miracles – Acts 12:1-19 “The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him.”

Your harvest grows during the night also – Mark 4:26-29 “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

God is doing far more than what we know about or can even conceive in the night hours all over the world right now. He does so many things on night shift.

If He wakes you, value curiosity over your sleep.

I remember a season that lasted the best part of 5-6 years. I would be woken at 2am most nights by the presence of God. He would reveal many things. It was in this season He taught me much about how the spiritual realm works and some of the greatest strategies for prayer. He was training me to train others. 

It wouldn’t have been my preferred way of training, but it was His.

Be expectant of God’s presence with you, stirring in and over you in the night hours. Some of the greatest breakthroughs, miracles, protection and harvest you have been praying for, working for might just be upon you.

He is on the night shift.
