As I was sitting with the Lord the other morning I began to see a raw diamond. I watched as the Lord held the stone in His hand and surveyed it closely.
He began to shape the stone on a sort of grinding wheel, one facet at a time. Each cut precise and intentional.
I knew that I was that diamond. He was making me. He of course, knew exactly what he was doing – how long to hold it in one place, how much pressure to use.
Such care and love was taken as He shaped and formed this rough stone into a brilliant gem. The most beautiful, exquisite shape, cut perfectly to reflect Him in all His brilliance.
He makes us into the most beautiful diamonds! Cut and polished to encapsulate and reflect His nature.
Diamonds are known for their brilliance- the light you see from the stone and the foundation of its beauty; scintillation – the flashes of light emitted by various facets towards the gems center; and their fire – the colored sparkle seen when exposed to light.1
They are also known for their hardness, so hard they must be cut by other diamonds. Throughout this process He never took His hands or eyes off the stone. Only He decided what the result would be.
His ask is simply that we yield to the process. Allow Him to make you. You can trust Him. He’s creating something truly and utterly brilliant in our yielding.
Shaped to reveal Him.
