SEISMOGRAPHS IN ACTION

Last week the Lord spoke to me about this time leading up to Christmas. He began with a picture of Seismographs in action.

What are Seismographs?

Seismographs record geological tremors, shifts and tectonic upheaval in the earth’s crust.

Collins Dictionary suggests other words that relate to this geological event are: cataclysm, dramatic transformation, revolution, and fundamental re-orientation.

When the Lord showed me these Seismographs, he said, “This is now a time of enormous activity where the Seismographs will be constant and exhausting.”

THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS AROUSING US WITHIN

He then directed me to Romans 8, “All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it’s not only around us; it’s within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us, within. We’re also feeling the birth pangs.” (8:22-23)

Isn’t it interesting that what the Seismograph experiences looks similar to that of birthing?

There is a push and then wait rhythm, especially in the final stage of birthing called travail – this is the hardest, highest risk time for both baby and mother because the baby’s birth is imminent and the mother’s energy is often running at depleted.

One minute there is a pause and waiting, the next minute a big movement and a destabilizing vulnerable movement at that.

Have you felt that? It’s going to happen from now till Christmas.

IT’S HAPPENING IN THE MIRCO AND MACRO, THE LOCAL AND THE INTERNATIONAL

This rhythm of pause and destabilizing movement is occurring on an individual level but also on a mass level. From Paris and Spain to the USA and Australia, there are massive political, military, social and spiritual shifts taking place.

Right across sectors of society in most Western Nations, there are dramatic things being revealed as a fundamental re-orientation takes place. While this occupies information headlines, an insane level of distraction and dullness saturates the atmosphere.

Revolution has been activated across the landscapes of the nations.

MERGING OF REVOLUTION AND RE-FORMATION

As we journey to the end of the year, we are going to see a merging of revolution and re-form-ation taking place. The Seismographs record this as a normal outcome. Tectonic plates shift the formation of the landscape, re-forming it forever.

Revolution will and is blending into Re-form-ation. 

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US IN THE MIDST OF THIS?

Romans tells us, ‘the Spirit of God is arousing us within” (8:23)

What re-forming is coming? Only God knows. Will it be easy? No. Will it be messy? Most likely. Will it shake us perhaps like never before? I would suggest, if it doesn’t, we are not awake. 

We as Romans 8:25 says, are not diminished “any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.” 

We are being enlarged as the Spirit of God is arousing us within! Something is coming forth. “For creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.” (Romans 8:19)

DON’T SHUT DOWN GOD OR TAP OUT BECAUSE IT LOOKS DIFFERENT AND SCARY

Something is happening in you, in us all as God’s children. Let it happen. Don’t resist it.

The very thing that gets challenged when the earth quakes is our stability. It’s ok to feel wobbly. It’s ok to feel the shaking. It’s ok to struggle to be steady. 

Here’s the thing: the way we develop steadiness is in navigating uncertain, high risk, vulnerable moments. At the same time, we also develop a capacity and skill to move more gracefully and easily.

Don’t tap out. Don’t shut down the arousing of the Spirit of God within you, no matter how uncomfortable it is.

This now is actually our greatest time, the Spirit of God is arousing us within. 

Let this Seismic season touch you. Let Him do His thing. He is worthy of our trust.
