Today we had an interesting event. It reminded me a lot of the 7th of September story on our web page. Helen said she felt the Lord told her to take our son for a walk in Hurstbridge, which is about 10mins drive away. When she told me I felt I was to go along as well, so off we went. Once we were in the town we asked the Lord where to go. We drove through the town and then turned up a road behind it. As we drove past another road we felt sure this was where we were supposed to go. So we turned around and headed down it. It was just a dirt track and it got much smaller as as it came to an end. Getting out we saw a walking path through a little gully then up the hill on the other side, so off we went for our walk. Near the top of the hill was another bitumen road and an unmaintained paddock with rows of apple trees and a dam with lots of straggly trees growing on the dam wall. I walked into the property and just started to pray. Was this where God wanted us to come? Was there something about this block of land? It looked very unmaintained. The Lord has spoken to us about a bigger place where He will establish a public Tabernacle, was this the land?
Then our son took off down the hill with Helen following him down calling me as well. But I felt to stop and to keep praying. I didn’t think God was finished yet. Then I noticed what looked to be a sign hanging from one of the fruit trees. I walked over and took a look. The sign announced that an experiment was taking place here and that different things were being done to the trees. The first tree was getting a monthly dose of fertiliser and potash, and also 15mins of Reiki each week. The other trees had the potash and fertiliser but no Reiki.
I have looked up Reiki. It is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.” (from Reiki.org)
So there was a spiritual experiment going on here, and not a Christian one! Wow God had guided us directly to this place. I then had an overwhelming urge to curse the tree and actually curse it to death. There goes that experiment.
I later pondered on what had happened, how we were guided to that place and how I almost missed it. I had to hang in there, keep looking and keep listening. At times it can be very hard to keep going. We sometimes feel very alone. This was a nice reminder of one of our major goals and that is to ALWAYS have enough space in our lives to be available to follow His still small voice.
